About me

Dar Wolnik is a writer and activist. She has published essays and blogged for the last 20 years on reanimating public spaces, direct action democracy, the good food revolution, farmers markets , street life, and New Orleans, among other subjects. Born in NE Ohio but moved while in high school to the French Quarter with her homesick New Orleans mother. She has worked as a hotel dishwasher, garde manger, housekeeping supervisor, bike messenger, office manager, retail store designer and manager, human resources manager, book buyer, health food store buyer, bookseller, warehouse manager, political canvasser, campaign staff, and as a farmers market operator. Since 2001, her career focus has been as a national researcher, speaker and support for farmers market operators and divides her time between New Orleans, Cleveland, and the driver’s seat of her van.
